Annoying issue with LV7

I found out I can not input the character # (ASCII code 35) with LV 7:
- on a string control the character is simply not typed
- on the diagram typing # seems to be a shortcut for enabling the grid alignment.
I'm using an italian keyboard.
This issue occurs only with LV7.
Thanks,
Alberto

the symptoms you describe are present when the control key is stuck on the keyboard, or when the computer has gotten confused about what keys are pressed and what keys aren't, and it thinks the control key is down. sometimes it happens to me with control, or with alt, and i just bang the shift, control and alt keys on both sides of the keyboard randomly and all at the same time, for a couple of seconds, and that usually fixes things for me 🙂

good luck 🙂 things should reset on a computer reboot at any rate.

Thanks for your attention, but the problem has not to to with keyboard buttons. I get this problem on 3 different pc's running LV7, and with the same pc's I can regularly type # with LV5.1 LV6 and LV6.1.

that's quite a quirk then, my installation of LV7 does not exhibit that behavior. what about regular windows like in notepad or something? try doing it in a regular window when LV7 is running and see the results, as well as when it's not running.

shortcut keys are loaded globally when it is running so for example, ctrl+w, which normally does not do anything for most windows programs, will close them the same as alt+f4 when LV is running. maybe that has something to do with it? dunno...

Hi again,
I can type # in any other application when LV7 is open, even with other versions of LV running at the same time.
I found out that this problem exists only in edit mode, not during runtime.
I attach the message I get when I type # on a LV7 diagram in edit mode.
I'm quite sure it has to do with the italian keyboard settings, to type # I have to press Alt GR and the button for " in american keyboard (second button left from Enter).
I think it's time I make a call to NI support.

Hi Alberto,

A friend of mine was telling me that he had problems with control charaters and LV7. I tried his code and it was fine on my machine. He found a workaround and we never found the source of the mystery.

As for myself, I now see a strange behavior with LV7.
It closes itself while I wire-up a new vi... >:o(
It happened twice yesterday... -strange-
My LV7 was solid until then...

Just for the records: I got an answer from the italian NI support, it is a bug of LV7.
It's not possible to type # in edit mode, both on panel and on diagram.

Hi Joel,
randomely I get a LV7 crash when dragging parts of the diagram...
I keep on saving vis more often than I did with previous versions!
