Black menu with Labview 7 on Win2K

Hi,

It seem that I'm not the first to get this troubleshoot but my Labview menu bar appears black on my system.

I use Labview 7 on Windows 2000 server. My OS color palette is set to 32 bits colors (I try to solve the problem by decreasing the color quality (til 256 colors) but nothing change). My video card is a nVidia geForce2MX with a recent nVidia driver (6.14.10.5672).

PS : If I change the font color in "Display properties">>"Appearance" (and set it to white for exemple) this new color is taken in the labview menu.

Thanks for all.

In Labview 7, "Tools" -> "Options" -> "colors", what does it show for "menu background"? the default should be grey.

It is set to grey. The "menu background" is not the problem. It is the "toolbar" color. I have attached a picture of the problem.

I have an ATI 3D Rage Pro card with the default drivers from Windows 2K.

Try changing the scheme you're using for Windows in Display Properties>Appearance.

I tried multiple schemes and no difference. I have uninstalled 7.0 and installed 7.1 with the same results.

We are facing the same problem at out department. One solution we found, is to delete the complete directory
c:\Documents and Settings\username

After deleting this folder, windows had to copy the default profile to the users profile and afterwards the
Labview problem didn't appear any more.

But in the end the bug isn't solved yet. Maybe anyone at NI can look for a solution. We have traced registry and disk traffic, but since there are quite a lot of posibilities of error causes, someone who knows exactly what the program does might have better luck than we had.

Since this way worked for us it doesn't really make sense, that a graphic card driver problem is the cause. Other apps doesn't show that behaviour.

Good Luck

This issue has only been reported on Windows 2000 machines.

Please try the following workaround:
  1. Login as local Administrator.

  2. Add "menubar.background=D4D4D4" to the LabVIEW.ini file in the LabVIEW folder.

  3. Restart LabVIEW.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Well, after deleting the user profile, there is currently nobody facing this problem any more. But just in case it will occour again, i will post a message.

I found this workaround already in other discussion forums, but there people said, that this will only restore the menubar an not the background of the palettes.

thanks for the fast response
