Broke Student asking for some help

If I have no luck with a used licence from someone I will just leave it,

Lots of us regulars are on a software lease. Pretty sure reselling that would be violating some rule(s).

It depends... In the situation you're describing, 4500 (not sure £, $ or €) is a bit rich in ratio to the deliverable software. Although it probably took you months to build it. You could take the risk that they actually like what you made enough to want more. Extra features, customization, reporting, in general: more. Charge them a bit of the 4500 per time, and you're halfway towards a business. Maybe the customer can buy the software? They'd pay the same, but they get more (turn key software + LabVIEW License). Make good arrangements about the ownership of the source code.

You might consider contacting a local alliance partner. They might actually buy your application just to get to the customer. Or they might hire you (temporarily, for a period or on a project basis). Or they might build the application for you for free or some commission... Maybe the local NI office has ideas? Just some random thoughts.

I have looked into it, it is totally legal.

Yes having them pay a bit every time they need me sounds good. But I just don't have the money to buy the software. £4500? hahah makes me laugh seriously.. I was just thinking maybe I could pay with installments when it was about £1300.. Anyway I get the point. No luck here, its a jungle out there.

Selling a normal license would be legal, but reselling a software lease? I doubt it. Anyway, we need that lease.

Talk to the local NI office. They might surprise you and cut you some slack. Esp. if you intend to be in the NI business as a career, they might be willing to invest in you.

Oh yes pardon me, I meant a software licence I don't know what is a lease.

Can I lease labview for a day, produce my program and let it go? I guess not..

No, for a year, if you're alliance partner. Don't think it will be cheaper either, but you  get a lot more.

Thanks for the info, and obviously I am not an alliance partner.

Shouldn't NI have a charity service for that? Like I am a student, I will advertise that your graphical programming language rocks and I was able to make things move in 3 months +++ plus! a GUI which is awesome. Let me have this sacred program!! How could I buy it...anyway..

I would buy the LV 2014 Home edition for $50 (which, I think is just like the LV Student edition in terms of features and license limitations - but you don't have to be in school to use it), practice really hard, get your CLD, invest in LV Pro, make a bunch of money either by selling your own software or by working for a company that uses LabVIEW.

Pretty sure we all have our reasons to want it for free. And they have their reasons to ask money for it. Good reasons as well.

But they are commercial. So there might be openings if you get to talk to the right people. I do agree that 4500 is ridiculous if you only want to make one program. Someone might agree.

Too bad USB sticks aren't allowed at CLD exams, otherwise you could pay for an exam, just to compile your code! Seriously, I'd try to arrange something with a local NI or Partner.
