Can you use NI 9237 to obtain LVDT readings

Solved!

Dear Fellows,

I just wonder if I can use NI 9237 and NI 9945 to obtain reading from an LVDT. The interest is to measure the displacement using Solartron DC Miniature LVDT.

In our lab we have NI 9237 and NI 9945 and I would like to get your advise if that would be good enough to measure the displacement from an LVDT.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gtharm,

For the Solartron DC Minitature LVDT, the transducer already incorporates oscillator, demodulator and filter which alow the sensor to accept DC voltage input and provide DC output relative to the position. Hence, instead of using bridge based measurement modules such as NI 9237 or NI9945, you only need AI input which take Voltage Input.

Range of voltage from the LVDT would determine what AI modules that you need to take the measurement. From the specification, you need at most 100Hz to safely get the signal out of the transducer.

I hope that this help mate.
