Cannot RUN a vi

Solved!
Go to solution

hi all

I am having a problem while trying to run any vi on my PC. I cannot run any VI by hitting RUN . the only way i can run the vi is by hitting run continuously and it's not a normal way of running a vi . without specifying any Vi all VI's are the same . do i have a problem related to the installation of the labview ??

any help guys ?

Thank you .

Sounds like you dont have any loop and/or event structure in your vi, then it'll only run once and you'll get that behaviour. Possibly you have some error in the VI causing it to stop prematurly, as a Race condition.

Can you post the vi?

It runs okay for me.  I suspect something is corrupted in your LabVIEW installation.  You should try reinstalling/repairing LabVIEW on your PC.

RavensFan

Thank you for  the reply . does all that happen because i am having 2 different versions installed on my PC ? i have 8.5 and 2009 installed . do you advise me to unistall them and then re-install one single version ?

Thank you so much

Two different versions should not be causing a problem for you.  Did your PC ever work properly?  Did you do anything, (install/uninstall/crash PC) around the time the run button stopped working for you?  Does the problem happen to  ou when you start up either version of LabVIEW you have installed?

Dear RavensFan

Yes my Pc is working properly . I did not do anything ( repair/unisall ...) the problem has first appeared when i first installed labview 8.5 . after installation i noticed that i cannot run the vi by hitting RUN . ( it was the time i didnt know that running a vi by hitting run continuously is not a normal way of running  VI )

any advice ?

Thank you so much .

By PC not running properly, I'm talking about your LabVIEW program on your PC.  If everything was working properly on your PC, then you wouldn't have posted.  Are both LV 8.5 and 9.0 having problems, or just one?

It seems to me that the explanation is related to the installation of LabVIEW 8.5 since you said the problems started happening after installing that.

Try installing LV 8.5 again.  If that doesn't help, then try uninstalling it.

Try installing the driver DVD that came with LV9 after installing LV8.5.
