Changed PLC from Allenn Bradley SLC 500 on Ethernet to ControlLogix on Ethernet

The existing system uses RSLinx OPC to get the data, but does not use topics in OPC. What do I change to get the data fom a ControlLogix, I can make the ControlLogix emulate SLC500 but how do I change the data path. In the files attached in the device table.

As I understand your question, you were using RSLinx to control your Allen Bradley SLC 500 but you are now using the ControlLogix on ethernet instead. You are using LabVIEW DSC for your application development.

The first thing you will need to do is configure RSLinx for the ControlLogix device. The following link describes how to configure RSLinx. Once it is configured, you can launch Server Explorer, as described in the tutorial, to check the OPC connections.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please post a reply.

You did not understand my question, RSLinx does not have any OPC topics configured, the system uses the information in the device file attached to my original question. The only thing configured in Linx is the IP address of the PLC. What do I do to change the path for a ControlLogix PLC.

Thanks for your assistance

Hi Dargs,

The typical setup is to use RSLinx as the OPC server so that LabVIEW DSC can communicate to the device. Can you please answer some more of the questions below:
  • How are you using the device in your system?
  • Are you using LabVIEW DSC or are you using BridgeVIEW? Which Version?
  • If you are creating a CCDB file, are you using this with one of NI's drivers for AB devices? What is the name and which version?
Please let us know so that maybe we could assist you better.

Mike
