Since you are using third party hardware, the commands will most likely be device specific. You can test the serial connection itself by performing a loopback test. This simply verifies that your serial connection and cable are working.
In terms of communicating with the device itself, you will need to consult the user manual or contact the device manufacturer. The commands should be fairly similar to those of the Digital MFC Interface, so the instructions for that should be fairly useful.

In terms of getting started with serial communication, I recommend taking a look at our Developer Zone tutorial on Instrument Control in LabVIEW. It provides a good step by step guide on getting started, determining what types of commands to send, and communicating with instruments. There are also a number of good related links at the bottom of the document that may be worth checking out.
On the subject of the checksum, I am not entirely sure what you are asking. The checksum is usually transmitted with data to assist in error detection, but the instruction itself would be device specific. If you can clarify your question, maybe I can be of more assistance.

bonjour ts le monde,
voila je veux commander le mass flow controller/meter 1800series sous labview. j'utilise la communication serie RS485, avec VISA je veux envoyer des instructions (format Hexa), mais le prolème c'est que les instructions que j'envoie je les reçoi sur le buffer à lire.
