Communicating with ITC510

Hi,

I am new to using Labview so excuse any lack of understanding.

I am currently trying to control a Thorlabs ITC 510 Laser Diode Combi Controller (current and temperature). The output of this is controlling a laser which in turn is read from an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA). I have made up a vi which can take readings from the OSA when I just use the controller manually (the OSA works perfectly).

The problem I am having is that when I run Labview and try to use any of the libraries for the device, none of them work. When using the DAQ Assistant, it says that no supported devices found. When I use the NI Instrument I/O Assistant I can communicate with the device and the device has switched into remote mode. Also, the device is listed under connected instruments.

Oh, and I am using labview 8 by the way.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Exactly what do you mean by the driver does not work? You need to provide the error codes and messages that you get.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have attached a pic of the error when I use the get module stsus vi from the ITC510 library. Also I have attached a picture showing that labview sees that it is connected and one where I used the *IDN? command using the I/O Assistant. And as I said before the DAQ Assistant says there is not a supported device attached. Thanks.

The DAQ Assistant is not supposed to work since you do not have an NI DAQ device.

Hi Dennis,

Do you know the reason for the error I posted a screenshot of above? The link that was posted didn't work for me. Not really sure what to do....

I'm on my phone right now so I can't look up the message. Can you right click on the error code to get it or go to Help> Explain Error Code and then post the exact message.

Just did that there and it says that the error is undefined and that nobody has provided a description for the code...

Then please attach an image of the block diagram where the error code is being generated.

It's just one of the VI's that came with the driver download
