For me it is always company antivirus software. On high end PC in the office installation of labview takes 2 hours. At home on my personal lower class PC it takes 20 min max.
We tried to add some exclusions but that did not help, if we switched off this antivirus with IT to try it worked faster.
By any chance is there an official list of locations that must be excluded from scanning to solve this? We tried all NI Program Files, Program Data, temp locations but no improvement...

Which AV did you switch off? I thought we only used Windows Defender, but I could be wrong.

I’m having a similar installation issue with 2026. I’ve been using LV now for over 30 years and the installer has never been more unreliable since the days of inserting 2 dozen or so floppies. Had an issue with one of our VM’s, was asked by support to install on real hardware. Fine, I usually do not install on my work laptop but made an exception. Huge mistake on my part. Installer failed midway through, rebooted then couldn’t uninstall what was partially installed. Rebooted to a BSOD which led to a weekend recovering my work laptop. Normally, I don’t have to install LV very often. But the nature of my work recently has been shorter timeframes and the use of several different VM’s. I’d guess it is a 50-50 chance that the installation will succeed. These attempts are all on fast, hardwired connections at different locations and occur on a mix of VM’s, Lenovo laptops, even a Minisforum PC. That is great the installer is working for some people but it is obviously broken for others.

Just had an issue today along the same lines. I was installing a different version of the Vision Development Module and realized halfway through that I had selected the wrong one. I closed the installer and something became corrupt, could not get MAX to open. Tried half a dozen times to uninstall/repair/reinstall "NI System Configuration" (BTW why can't you even SEARCH for MAX in the Package Manage). Nothing worked.
Now having said that, totally uninstalling ALL NI stuff and reinstalling worked better than anticipated. All my VI packages from before were saved and I did not have to do anything to get them working again. Just make sure you know how to log into your NI account and active a product by serial number.
