Custom Run Time Menu (.rtm) for a tree control doesn't appear in LV executable

Hello,

I am using a custom run time menu (.rtm) for a tree control in LV.  When I right click on the control the run time menu appears in the LV development environment.  However the run-time menu does not appear when run the executable installed by the installer I created.  I tried including the .rtm file with the installer, but it did not fix the problem.

Please let me know if any ideas.

Thanks,

This is a known issue and has been reported to our R&D engineers for further investigation (CAR# 3T2E57V2). The workaround is to embed the run-time menu in the control instead of the separate .rtm file. To do this, make a minor change in the shortcut menu (for instance, add a dummy item then delete it), so that the shortcut menu editor will ask you to save the new menu. When it prompts you, choose to save it with the control instead of to file.

LabVIEW 2010 and still the same problem - with Chart with stacked plots. Very annoying when using multiple controls with the same rtm menu. Some plans to fix it?

Hi ceties,

This issue is under investigation by R&D, now under CAR ID# 48451. In the meantime, feel free to start a new discussion thread or refer to this thread that Jarrod pointed out previously.

I am still reporting same issue in LV2011.

Run-time shortcuts disapper in built EXE.

Some documentation on how to handle this in an EXE would help.

R&D is currently investigating this issue.  For now, there are two alternative options:

1) Save the shortcut menu with the control.

2) Create an installer that will copy the RTM file on the target machine to the same location as the development machine. That should trick the executable into finding it.

We appreciate your feedback!

Thanks!  Got it to work by doing the "Save to Control" option.

Given that this bug is now over 4 years old are there any plans to actually fix it?

This has been resolved in LabVIEW 2012. See ID 187412 here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14226/en
