Hi jwdz,

This will not work with LV7.1.  If you try it you'll immediately get the following error message:

"The format string wired to this node contains a bad or unknown format specifier (%code). Right-click the node and use Edit Format String to delete the bad specifier."

It says in the original post that this is a new 8.0 feature.

JeanPierre,

Yes, you can omit inputs in the format string.  You do need to specify at least *one* input, however.  Also, you can repeat inputs.
