Hi,
I downloaded the device drivers for August 2011 this week from here http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2602/lang/en and it wasn't what i expected.
I thought i would have got a setup.exe file to run which would install the device drivers, but instead it downloaded a load of folders for every form of National Instruments software.
Am i missing something or is this not right?
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris
That does not sound like typical behavior for one of our downloaders.
Where does the downloader try to save your files and what folders/files came with it?

Hi Marshall,
The attached vi shows you the path where the folders were downloaded to and the list of folders.

Hi Chris
I am currently in the process of checking this behavior so please bear with me.
Since downloading the device drivers from our web page, can you see the device drivers listed in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? You can check this on the left hand side of MAX by expanding the "Software" branch of the system tree.

Hi Chris
I have checked this behavior with the 2012.08 NI Device Drivers downloader and am satisfied that this is the standard download procedure for the device drivers.
What you receive in this download is a complete list of all of our device drivers, some of which you will need to install for your application and some of which you will not require. By providing you with an MSI file for each individual driver, you are able to select which device drivers you want to install. This is arguably a better way to go about installing these drivers as you may not want to unnecessarily download all of the device drivers available.
Alternatively, you can download individual drivers from our website as and when you need them.

Hi Marshall,
That's good to get to the bottom of it with a positive outcome.
If I explain the scenario in which I came across this maybe you could point me in the right direction if a similar situation arises.
I had built an installer on one PC and had come to rebuild the same installer on my laptop, on site. When I came to build the installer I got the warning message saying that some of the additional installers were not available on my laptop. It came up with device drivers August 2011 - NI System Components, so I thought I'd just go and download the device drivers and install it, which is when I came across this issue. So which file would I install in the list of Products that would cover NI System Components?
Thanks again for you responses.
Chris

Hi Chris
Are you able to send me a screen shot of the message you see when building the installer on your laptop?
What versions of LabVIEW and drivers were you using with each of your systems (PC & Laptop)?
Kind Regards

Hi Marshall,
Attached is the requested print screen.
I have LV 2012 and device drivers Aug 2012 on both computers and i have device drivers Aug 2011 on the PC only.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris
Thank you for sending the screen shot.
Would I be right in saying that you installed the August 2011 Device Drivers on the PC using a CD that came with your copy of LabVIEW?
Kind Regards

Hi Marshall,
Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for the week.
No, I didn't install it off a CD, I managed to download an installer somehow.
Regards
Chris
