Directshow support

After searching this forum alot, i have finally decided to post my query.

How can i know whether my webcam supports Directshow or not? I bought an iball C8.0 webcam.

Thanks In advance

A possible indication though by no means a conclusive one, is if the webcam automatically shows up in explorer when you plug it in. If it does show up under the Scanners and Cameras it likely supports DirectShow. Otherwise it certainly doesn't and relies on proprietary driver interfaces.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Smiley Happy

Yes, the webcam shows up under the scanners and cameras type automatically when it is plugged in. In other words, it is plug and play device and can work without the drivers (which came along with it)

Now if it supports directshow, LabVIEW should be able to communicate with it. But i dont find any USB support for the camera.

I am using LabVIEW 2009  and vision assistant 2009. NI-IMAQ 4.3.

Even if i install the USB support , the VIs donot show in the Functions Pallette
