Disabling Front Panel Controls

I am building a vi which implements 4 different functions. The user
selects among the functions using a menu ring. Functions 1 and 2
require no additional user input. Functions 3 and 4 both
require additional input from the user. I have placed controls on the
front panel for this input.

To make the panel simpler to use, I would like to disable (dim or hide)
the controls not necessary for the selected operation. Is there any way
to accomplish this?

Yes, there is. On the block diagram, pop up on the control, and select
create, attribute node. Then you can select the disabled item, and tell
it how you want it disabled. The help file can help you figure out
which one you want. You can also use the visible property to hide
controls or indicators.

Sure. Right click on the control in either the diagram or front panel,
and select Create->Attribute node. On the diagram, an attribute node
tho the control is created. You can select the "Visible" attribute, and
set the visible to True or False, depending on the ring control. This
will "Hide" or "Unhide" the control at the appropriate time.

Before you build the vi, go to File>>Vi Properties>> and select Category = Window Size,
Also Set the Minimum Panel Size Width and Height to zero. Then on Category = Window Appearance, select Custom and click on Customize... and Disable "Allow user to Resize Windows" and "Show Scroll Bars". Then resize the front panel to what you want user to appear on there screen. And then do build.
