Do I need to load the NI Serial Driver for com1

Sorry, need to get this working fast.  Do I need to load the NI Serial Driver to communicate with a serial port that is installed in the PC by the manufacture?

I answered my own question.  Loaded the serial driver and it now works so I guess it is required.

This is a normal RS-232 port that comes with a pc? I've never installed NI-Serial for these (or USB serial). All that I've ever had to install with NI-VISA.
