Downloading Panel 0% of 0 bytes/Remote Panel Connection is closed

Installs LabView RTE 7.1 fine but unable to download Remote Panel, get above errors when on corp. network. Works fine when using a connection external to the corp. network. Windows XP or 2000 doesn't matter, IE is 6.0+. Firewall/Port Issue? NATing issue?

I would first of all check to see if you have a built in firewall that is not allowing you to view port 90. Make sure in LabVIEW that your web server is enabled and is set to an acceptable port. If you can disable the built in XP firewall. Hope this helps.

You need to provide us with a few more details:

(1) You only told us the location of the client. Where is the LabVIEW server (e.g. on corporate network, external, behind NAT)?
I assume external.

(2) Corporate networks are typcally firewalled. On what port are you running your panel? IF you can get to the message that it is downloading the remote panel, ports are probably not an issue. All takes place on the same port.

(3) Some stateful firewalls inspect the payload and block based on certain content. Your corporate firewall could block certain content (e.g. activeX or java). Talk to your administrator.

(4) If the corporate network is NATed, outgoing connections from the private network are no problem. If the LabVIEW server is behind (M-1) NAT, the proper ports need to be forwarded. This is not needed for other flavors of NAT such as 1-1.

(5) Is this using the same laptop computer? If not it could be a browser security setting at work.

- The client with the runtime engine 7.1 is on the corp. network behind back to back firewalls. There is no local firewall on the client. Yes, it is the same laptop which will work when not on the corp. network.
- Trying to access fuel-cell data thru web browser using an IP address provided as URL. This is external to our network and I do not know what type of NAT it may be behind.
- This is all done thru the browser, a sniff of the traffic didn't seem to turn up more than http traffic. Not sure if I have a choice of what port to run the panel on.
- Our firewalls are not doing any content filtering.

Thanks for the help. Let me know what other info. may be helpful.
