Error 8 occurred

Hi everybody, I'm still working with LabVIEW 7.1. and my problem is when I build an exe with the application builder I get sometimes this Error 8 occured message (see attachment) since the last 3-4 weeks. The definition of this error in this window is always "File permission error". But the file names are always changing when I repeate the compiling. The strange thing is that usually one compiling works always after a restart of my computer. But after that I get sometimes the Errro 8. And the only way is to get shut off is I have to restart my computer again. I've already reinstalled LabVIEW 7.1 again which didn't help. If someone has an idea to solve this problem, please let me know. Many thanks in advance, Martin

No attachment 😞   If an image, remember .png NOT .bmp  Thanks!

This error message has many causes so check the following:

Check File Permissions to see if they are read only

Make sure you logged in as Admin

VIs need to be in the same version of LabVIEW

Hi Ray, all checked. But this would not explain why the compiling works for few times and then I have to restart my computer. I can remember that I have deleted a TMP directory and since then I have these problems. But after a reinstallation of LabVIEW should all be installed what I have deleted from this TMP directory. Thanks, Martin

Strange indeed..

Some more questions to find out about your envirnoment:

Do you always log in using the same username? (probably)

Do you do anything to the code between re-starting the computer and being able to compile (or not being able to compile)?

How many versions of LabVIEW are installed on that PC?

Are there multiple users sharing the same PC (with different or same login)?

Hi, I'm not doing anything with the code between compiling and restarting my computer. There is only one version of labview on my computer and I'm the only one who is using this computer.

Wow..  that IS a strange one.

LabVIEW 7.1 was (still is) one of my favorite version for stability.

I'm not sure what to suggest other than contacting NI support, giving them your code and letting them play (compile) with it to see if they can reproduce the problem.
