FM Modulation with ni5640R

Hi,

Is there an example that can perform FM Modulation (or 2-FSK Modulation) using ni5640R FPGA?

The LV-FPGA RF Communications Library 2.0 has an FM Demodulator.  I am looking for a similar VI that can perform FM Modulation.

Thank you very much.

Hello Ajay,

Do you have the NI Modulation Toolkit? Here is the NI-5640R Instrument Driver API Examples for the Modulation Toolkit: http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-1710

I will look around for other examples.

Also, Here is the best forum for your questions, I would suggest reposting your question there. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board?board.id=ifrio Best, Anna K.

Anna,

I have the Modulation Toolkit installed.

I am able to transmit modulated FM signals using the ni5640R driver VIs.

I am building an FM/2-FSK Transceiver.

I modified the FM demodulator example in the RF communications library and am using it to demodulate FM.

Upon receiving the appropriate response, I should transmit an FM modulated signal.

But it takes anywhere from 2 to 8 seconds to change from the FPGA mode to Driver mode after receiving the appropriate response which is not acceptable.

That is the reason I was looking for an FM modulator that I can use in the FPGA mode.

Thanks.

Hello Ajay,

Can you clarify what you mean by changing from fpga mode to driver mode? I will have our RF team take a look at your response. Please include and helpful screen shots or code snippets that would help us decipher the issue. Also, if you hadn't already, I sill suggest posting on the RF thread as this related better to the products you are using and will be viewed by people familiar with those same products.

Thanks,

Anna K.

Anna,

Sorry for the delay.

I have attached 2 figures.

When I use NI-5640R VIs (The block diagram of these VIs cannot be opened) I call it the Driver Mode.  These can be found at : Instrument I/O >> Instrument Drivers >> NI-5640R in the functions pallet.

When I use the NI-5640R drivers that are installed with the "FPGA RF Communications Library", I call it the FPGA Mode.  In this case I can control the different clocks and other parameters.

I have started the thread:  http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=ifrio&message.id=949&jump=true in IF-RIO group as you suggested.

I was suggested an example from Jerry.  Unfortunately these examples are in Labview 8.6.  Can you open them in 8.6 and save them for 8.5 and re-send me the examples.

Thank you very much.

Ajay
