Free comm port manually

Hello All,

                 i had a similar problem, i am developing UART based labview code... and i observe that COM port tends to get hanged... and the drop down menu looks simliar to the attached image, 

i cnanot access the COM port until i close down all labview based applications... 

this is litle irritating.. can anyone suggest any solutions?

Create a simple VI that just as the VISA control and a Close VISA on it.

 

Pick the Com8 port in your control then run that VI.  It will close com8.

You can also write a small VI that will cycle through COM 1- 10 and lose them all.  Handy to have available when testing and troubleshooting a multi instrument app.
