Galil servo motor contol

Does anyone have any experience using Galil servo motor controllers in LV? We are currently using Compumotor, but want to investigate using Galil due to compatiblity issues.

Galil offers both an active X toolkit and Labview VIs that work with it.  (The VIs you can download for free.  But you'll need about $600 for the ActiveX toolkit to run them)

I've just started a project myself using a DMC 1822 controller.  So far we've been using an old Win95 PC and some very old terminal software to enter the X and Y arrays manually.  My next task is to automate this process using Labview.

We'll be looking at the ActiveX toolkit.  But I'm not sure I need it yet.

They also offer amplifiers that can be driven by NI's motion controller cards via a UMI-7764.  I have been looking at just such a system for driving some +24V .2A servos.  Most amps are just too powerful for them.

Hope that this helps,

Bob Young
