Graph Controls Tutorials for End Users?

Greetings All,

Does anyone know of a resource (i.e. web page, help file, word doc) that explains how to use the various graphing tools and functions that would be appropriate to pass along to the end user of my labview programs?  I can't be the only one tired of repeating the same instructions to end users on how to zoom, pan, lock and read cursors, set scaling, etc,etc Smiley Sad.  Even the manuals don't go into much detail on these functions (I don't really remember how I learned).   You can't use the context help to provide control details since it always displays info on the whole graph, not individual items that are visible.

Thanks,
K

That's a good point.  I couldn't find a good explaination of those controls anywhere either.

I'll see if we can get a knowledgebase article about them posted  Watch this space...

I am still using extracts from a 1996 manual on Labview (Page 16-12, Chapter 16 Graph and Chart Controls and Indicators).

I can't decide if that's good or not Smiley Tongue

Hello,

Just an idea :

A couple of weeks (or months) ago a thread about "globals" and more generally "how to pass data between VIs", many experienced developper came to discuss the subject and ended up with a kind of white paper on what to do in wich case.

That was really cool. Maybe this should be done periodically for common subject discussed on the forum.

Another way to do something like close is to do open a thread in BreakPoint and link all the other interesting threads on a particular subject. This already exist for Excel, and picture control. Starting a new one about Graphs & Charts would help alot of people 😉

Hi Guys,

I guess I was hoping for an NI official to chime in with a "Of course we have that for you, here's a link" kind of answer.  Ah well.  I am in the process of documenting a couple of programs that need to explain the graphing functions.  I write most of it in MS Word and then create help files with a freeware utility called HelpNDoc.  It's pretty cool.  When I finish I'll post my work so that others may use/improve it.

Thanks,

K

I would imagine what you're developing would be more helpful, but here's a link to some NI documentation.

Day... the link not longer works Smiley Sad !

Hmmm the problem seem to come from NI website, because doing a search "customize graph" list the tutorial but gives and error when clicking on the link... Smiley Indifferent
