I have my computer on silent mode (no sound card turned on, no volume, no NOTHING) but still the LabView beeps at me everytime it does something. I need to turn this off. I can't find an option in the Tools-Options and nothing else seems to fit. (I'm sure it's the silly built-in oinker that Windows uses when it finds no keyboard and things like that, but I'm reluctant to clip the leads, but I might have to do that.)

Try Programs>>Control Panel>>Sounds and Audio Devices>>Sounds Tab. Look over the Program Events list.
Hope this helps.

Could you be more specific? What operations cause a beep?

Thank you for the quick response, Gov.
Unfortunately, all sounds have been set to "None" in my "Sounds and Audio Devices" but I'm still oinking every few seconds when I'm trying to work.

Subscribing... when you find the solution, I'm interested to hear it. There's a guy who works about 15 feet from me whose computer makes a wretched-loud system beep (the plastic case of the laptop rattles) whenever he tries to perform an "invalid" action, such as clicking on another window while a modal is active. ![]()

Could you provide a little more information about what actions seem to be causing these beeps/oinks? Does it just happen periodically (every 3 seconds) or is it in response to a user action?
Thanks!

Oh, i remember this from a long time ago! This isn't a LV problem, but a general windows one. You can disable the Beep in the following way:
Open Device Manager (through Manage on My computer or control panel->system->hardware->device manager)
View->Show Hidden devices
Open Non-plug and play devices
r-click and Disable Beep

That was it. Thank you very much!
To answer another respondent's question, the beep/oink always happen on user interaction. When I chose a component was the time that I noticed it most. It was exteremely distracting and annoying. But this fixes it.
Donald.

Oops - itchy send button. I think it is an LV issue, though. I have n other programs on any of my machines where I can't control their sound generators - whether on or off or what sounds correspond to which events. That aspect of the user interface configuration has been been around since 'way back when.

Jack - did you see the post from Yamaeda? This worked for me. This is the equivalent of clipping the PeeCee's oinker wires but it beats all the noise.

Show hidden devices is the secret. Many thanks to Yamaeda.
