How to control an SC-2062 when shutting down computer

Solved!
Go to solution

I am using a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 to control a SC-6062 (8 channel relay). When I shut down the host computer the relays open during the shutdown process and then close when the computer is completely shut down. I have the SC-6002 powered externally and need the relays to stay in the same positions when the computer is shut down. This is a big safety problem that I need to fix.

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks,

joew

I'm not familiar enough with that board to be able to comment on its operation.  But I have to ask, if the state of the relays is a critical safety concern, why are you using a PC?  Why are you allowing that PC to shut down?

The computer controls our airflow tunnel, and processes test information. Normally this computer is left on but my concern is if someone accidentally turns it off the drive fan and the unit's motor will kick on briefly.

Hey Joew,

On an E-series board, the default power up state is high, so although the relays will default close when there is no power, the power up (and down) states will continue to give you trouble unless you wire in a pull down resistor. Please take a look at the KB titled Setting the Default State of the Digital Lines on E-SeriesDAQ Boards.Have a great holiday weekend!
