Hello,

I rty to convert my old 16Bit LV Vi's (LV 3.x) to 32Bit (LV 4.0.1) so that I can access them with LV7.1 for Windows.

I did a setup of a PowerMac (virtual PearPC) with Mac OS X.

When I try to start LV I get the message "There is no default application specified to open the document "LabView".

When I use the terminal program it tells me "can not open document".

Which program I've to use to execute LV 4.0.1 on a MAC like this?

Hello,

I assume LV 4 can not run on MacOS X... At the time of LV 4, powermacs were running MacOS 9... I think you'll have to find a powermac that can run MacOS 9, then install LV4 and convert your VIs.

LV 4 will run under Classic mode on OS X. Classic mode is where OS 9 is run as a process under OS X. Classic has to be installed separately. I think it is not available for Intel based Macs, but should run on the PowerPC Macs. All of the old versions of LV have been run on G4s and G5s. I cannot get LV3.1 to install under Classic but others have suceeded. I have versions 1.2, 2.2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 6.0, 7.1.1 all running under Classic and 7.1.1, 8.0, and 8.2 under OS X on my computer at work.

thanks for the response. I can't get such old OS ISO images or bootable CD's not here in my office. Even NI support couldn't help me.

Could you please mass compile my old LV 3.1 vi's with LV 4.0.1, so that I can access them with my LV 7.1?

Attached you'll find a WinZip Archive with the VI's. The Top Level VI is "Flash" located in the Folder "Flash Viktor".

LV 4.1 and LV 5.1.1 both tell me that these are not VIs. When I examine the file with a low level file tool, they look somewhat like VIs, but I cannot tell for sure. I cannot find any VIs that I am sure were created in LV3 to try those.

Is it possible that these were saved without diagrams? If so, nothing can be done.

thank you very much for you attention. Please try to mass compile this VI's first with LV 3.x.

A guy from switzerland coneverted already 11 vi's  of the ZIP file, but he don't have pation anymore to do the rest.

So I'm not really sure if the vi's which I've posted are from LV 2.x or 3.x. If they are from LV 2.x you will get the message which you've send.

Please try it again first with LV3.x and than with LV.4.x. Thank you very very much. You're my last hope "Obi Wan"

I happen to have LV 3.1.1 running under Classic without a problem. I couldn't get 2.2.1 to open but I didn't need it an haven't tried hard. I will take a look at your zip file, but I believe that you have used a program that stripped off all the resource forks on the original VIs. Do not tranfer the VIs on a DOS formatted usb stick or something like that. use a compression program that will preserve the resource forks.

The "create archive" contextual menu under OS X will preserve the resource forks, but old OS 9 versions of zip did not. Old os 9 versions of stuffit may work.

Mass compile under 3.1.1 shows that there is nothing that LV can comile in all those folders. The VIs in that zip file are damaged.
