I am looking for LabVIEW controls for electric circuits

We are trying to make SCADA for power plant with LV DSC module, and we need LV controls in shape of switches (for 1 Pole scheme) that have various
properties because they have to change colour and they must blink. They also must have various states (open, closed). We tried with imported pictures in PictRing control, but there is problem whit resizing (when the control is resized the picture in it is not) and properties (blinking etc.). We made custom control (attached file) in control editor and we are writing programs in LV for a long time so obviously the way of using properties for various objects is familiar to us. The problem is that blinking and colour properties (and many others) are not avail
able four custom controls because their states are predefined pictures. For instance, blinking is needed when there is fault in the system. The colour also must be changed programmatically. In short, we need LabVIEW control which looks like the one in the picture and behaves like; for instance, led indicator (can blink and change colour programmatically). If you know where we can find such controls please let us know.

Hi,

I have also run into this situation before. I was able to find a solution by playing a few tricks. If you import a standard LabVIEW Decoration into the custom control, then you can use the blinking property to make that blink. Placing this behind a graphic that has transparency, you can make the control blink. I have attached an example that demonstrates this and uses a picture from the LabVIEW DSC Image Navigator.

With regards to the picture not sizing correctly, I did not see this behavior in the control that you sent. When is this occurring? Does it occur when you resize the control?

I hope that this helps,

Mike

Thank you for your help. It is an excellent trick. Unfortunately it does not work with the PictRing control. My second problem is that I also must change the colour of the switch programmatically which is not possible.

I have not tried using the picture control in this situation but let me offer another thing that I found that my help with your second problem.

To make the background color of an imported picture on a boolean control change, you can set the background color of the Boolean text. To do this and make it look good, you need to create WMF graphics that have transparency defined in some regions. Then you import this graphic in the TRUE and FALSE cases of the boolean. Next, stretch the boolean text to cover the entire control. Then, move the boolean text to the background using the Ordering tool so that it will only appear through the transparent areas of your graphic. Doing this will allow you to write to the Background parameter of the text and
change the color. See the attached example.

Good Luck!

Mike
