Insane Object crash during Save

I'm running LV7.1 on a new XP machine.  While editing VIs, I am getting these "Insane Object ..." messages.  This occurs randomly just as I am saving my edits.  I can edit/save the same VIs from another machine without a problem.

I have seen past posts that have talked about the graphics card being a possible cause to other "Insane Object ..." messages.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Scott

The specific message is:

"Insane object at FPHP+E8 in "SLED LIV Test.vi": {dsitem} (0x400): panel (FPSC)

Thanks,

Scott

Hi ATG,

Yes, we've seen this Insane Object in the past.  Never really found out the cause.  It was not the graphics card.

What works: ==>  "try copying all of the bolck diagram and pasting into a new VI and resaving."

That's the only known workaround.

Can you describe the type of vi or what you were doing when it occurred?  Out of curiosity, are you using dual monitors?

JLV,

I'm not doing anything fancy.  The "FP" in the error message suggests it has something to do with a front panel object.  But I don't know how.

"What works: ==>  "try copying all of the bolck diagram and pasting into a new VI and resaving.""

This doesn't really help because I don't know when I'm going to get the error.  When I do get the error, it wipes out the changes that I just made.

Do you suspect that it's related to XP or the computer hardware?

Thanks,

ATG.

I really wish I knew..

I got the error (quite often) in a particular vi.  This was in 2002.  I was using LV6.1 with Win-2000.

I doubt that it is HW related.

I did the copy vi trick and never had the insane problem since.  At least not with Labview vi... 😉

And yes, it was a random occurrance.  But always with the same vi.  I suspect that a broken link or unfinised wires create a situation that LV does not know how to handle.  But that is pure speculation on my part.

When you read the other threads, did you come across this?

Yes, tst.  And thanks.

As I mentionned in the other thread.  I haven't seen the Insane Object since LV7x.
