Hi.
Trying to install the LV 2009 30 day evaluation. After a 700+meg download, the install says ti get and install patch f2 after the install, but before first run.
OK, but the links on the page to do that at:-
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C3F88F3596A164AD86257647006FB022
That is where you end up, clicking the link in the installer notification panel
http://digital.ni.com/express.nsf/bycode/NotificationLV2009f2
give the Error 404 for either of the "Available on the 14th of October" links.
Guys... It' is the 14th of October, so where is it?
Sadly, this does not instill confidence, despite the long conversation on the phone the other day with a NI type here in the UK.
Do what gives. Time Zone issues, or NI's servers nuked off the face of the universe because of so many requests.
DJB.
Solved! Go to Solution.

It says in that document, link avaliable on Wed, 14 Oct. I guess they meant local time and of course nobody at NI is going to the office at midnight. So you simply have to let the guys at NI get up in the morning, get some orange juice and breakfast, drive to the office and get settled in, and voila there is the download.
And indeed as I'm writing it now, the link is valid and points to a page that has two downloads. The first seems still somehow borked, but the second seems to work fine for me. Give it a try.

Hi..
Well', it's downloading now as I type. Sadly the whole saga does not inspire, after all, if something is not going to be available untill the USA wakes up, why advertise and make the details page live sometime before that, also allowing automated installers to "see" something is needed, if it is not there to get? Are we not a worldwide community these days. Oh, sorry, "worldwide" just gets you to the end of the street in some parts of the US. (I've spent too much time there in the past, and still have to deal with too many US centric types through work. You don't want to know, believe me!)
Sadly, this sort of thing is all too common these days. Make a page/link available, but what it points to is not yet complete or even tested. From the background I came from, one would make and test the file first, put it somewhere and make it available, test the links etc, then and only then, make said link public.
But what the heck to I know about anything, I've only been messing with this stuff for the last, 30+ years! 😉
Right, download has finished, so lets play...
The brain ache will start in a while, when I get to install the trial (and patch) and try to figure out how to use it all.
Cheers.

Was there a point somewhere in that diatribe? Sorry. Guess my limited US brain** (can't see past the end of my street) has trouble dealing with big ideas or concepts.
** Which is actually of Italian descent, but you know how Italians are all stupid and mafioso-type, right?

Somewhat...
Like, why advertise something that is not yet avaiable, just because someone in the US has not yet woken up. How many hours pass by, since October the 14th began somewhere East of New Zealand, before either of the advertised and posed links worked?
Sadly, from experiance with all the internationa companies and people we have to deal with for work from here in the UK, the US are the worst for that sort of thing. Not the only ones, but far and away the worst. (I think an un-named Swiss company are next worse!)
I spent 3+ months living over in the US a few years back, and have made many visits to most parts of that country. I vividly remember the so called "international news" on the TV in some parts, that if you were lucky, might mention events in the next state.
Since then however, there has been many things to concentrate US minds on events outside their country, but still many seem blinkered as to if the rest of the world even exists. Many of those that acknowlege it does, expect US attitues and laws apply, they dont.
I in no way condone 9/11, but it was no real suprise for the rest of the world when that happend sadly. I had phone call's and emails from good friends in the US after that, who genuinely could not understand why anyone would do such a thing. And yes, there were many UK (and probably Italian) casualties too.
Still, I've worked for US based companies for most of my working life, so I should be used to it by now, so you'd think.
We've recently had a lot of demo equipment sent over, for a tour of UK and EU exhibitions. Now, the company involved builds stuff to world wide standards, and they do know about this sort of thing, so why send demo kit over that only runs on 115V, and only send US power cords! When we asked why, they hadn't a clue there was any other sort of power, let alone connectors! They were the sales/promotional types though, similar to telephone sanitisers I think.
The first test software that another US company we deal with came up with, would not install on a PC, unless you reset it's locale to the US. Something didn't like the date format. That was fixed eventualy, but it was a struggle to get them to understand. "It works OK here" was the common reply to our complaints. And we are forever getting promotional material sent over as data files, that could be done so that you could print it out on A4 paper, without having to go in and relay out the pages, because someone in the US has a "Letter" size stuck in their mind.
Nothing wrong with Italian minds. Great engineers and artists of course. And the food. Mmmmmmmmmm....... The skiing is not bad either, very well groomed pistes, so smooth (till the brits get on them!) too.
Cheers.

Well, clearly you have not yet accepted the fact that the world revolves around the US. I accepted that fact a long time ago, and the state now tells me that I lead a much happier life. They tell me that every day. I now return to my happy life, content that the rest of the world must be OK since I am.
<For those who don't recognize sarcasm: the above is an example.>

I posted a response on this topic in the thread created on breakpoint for discussing the patch in general.
