Is ActiveX container equivalent to Automation Open

I have an ActiveX server(say xx.xx) on my machine. When I have an ActiveX container and insert xx.xx, I can successfully call its methods using ActiveX>>Invoke Node. When I use the Automation Refnum on my front panel and select xx.xx, and then use the >>ActiveX>>Automation Open.vi, the ActiveX>>Invoke Node gives me an error.

In both cases, the same methods of xx.xx are available in ActiveX>>Invoke Node. And yes, I am using Automation Close.vi at the end of the VI with Automation Open.vi.

Are both methods not equivalent?
