Is the LabVIEW Full Development System 6i (as purchased) capable of monitoring machine runups, measuring frequency response and displaying waterfall plots; in essence doing vibration analysis?

I want to use LabVIEW to monitor the variation in machinery vibration with rpm, time and/or load. This includes monitoring machine runups, measuring frequency response and generating waterfall plots to display my results. Is the LabVIEW Full Development System 6i (as purchased) capable of making these measurements and generating these plots or is the Vibration Toolset add-on software needed?

Yes but is easier to buy software than to write and especially debug it.

Yes, and we have made it even more easy than the enthusiast answer implies. I am part of the business development group focusing on vibration applications for machinery monitoring. We have new DAQ hardware and software that goes beyond our traditional sound and vibration tools. We use this new software (to be announced and shipping on April 30th) to isolate forcing functions on the machine we are monitoring and to create user interface displays the machine analyst is used to seeing. In addition, we are working with alliance partners to develop turn key applications fitting exactly these applications.

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your application with you.

Sincerely,

Preston,

Are you talking about the Order Analysis Toolbox? I just talked to NI here and they didn't know of any other tool.

Thanks,

Howard
