Is there any way to put a password that would prevent the program from accidentally being turned closed?

We have a person in our lab that is very scatter minded. Several times he wanted to lower the running Labview program but did not pay attention and accidentally actually closed it by clicking on X instead of _ thus canceling the whole experiment. When the program was being closed it didnt ask if he wanted to save it or if he was sure he wanted to close it. Is there any way to put a password that would prevent the program from accidentally being turned closed?

You've got a couple of options.

  1. You can hide the X altogether in the VI Properties.  Go to Window Appearance, click Customize, then uncheck the option to allow user to close window.  You would need another method, such as a File->Quit or quit button option.
  2. If you are using a version higher than Base, you can use an event structure to capture the Window Close? event.  This will allow you to ask the user to confirm to exit and do anything else required.  If the user cancels, or you need to abort, you have the abaility to cancel the event.

Here are examples of both options.
