It is Posible to Create Variables from External Device using Ethernet/IP?

Hi Community,

I have a Fanuc robot with Ethernet/IP. I also have the Ethernet/IP drivers for LabVIEW. I get this drivers recently and have no idea of how they work. I has researched the NI site but there is not too much about Ethernet/IP over here. I need to monitor the outputs and send inputs to the Fanuc Robot using Ethernet/IP. I do this with Modbus TCP before, so, Iwas wondering if it posibl to create variables of the Robot I/Os in Labview like you do with Modbus. If the answer is yes, What are the steps to do that?, is the answer is no, How can I constantly monitor and sent inputs to the Fanuc Robot using Ethernet/IP?

I will appreciate your help with this matter. I thought that it will be similar to the Modbus TCP process but once I install the drivers and start looking how to do this, I realize that it is completely different.

Hey Ferdinand,

LabVIEW has a TCP toolkit that might be similar to the protocals you used with Modbus and should work for communicating with your device. If you need some info about using TCP/IP in LabVIEW here is a handy tutorial.
