Certain functions that are in LV 7 were not present on LV 5.1.
so if this code which u want to convert to LV 5.1 has any such functions, there is no use of converting it to the lower version.
So u decide if u wanna go for an upgrade

Thanks for the replies .....
Problem is I dont have LV7 to be able to do the back conversion of the LV7 vis to my LV5.1 version of Labview. Woah ive just been told that the latest version of LV is 8!! blimey I am really behind the times! So I guess the vis may even be LV8. I have tried to open the vis in LV5.1 and they wont open so I guess you are correct about new features not being back compatible.
To be honest I am not too bothered if the vis wont run on my LV5.1, but if i could get them opened up I would like to get to the front panel and block diagram to be able to see what is in them. They are for a specific high speed serial card and within the vis I should be able to glean how the card is commanded and telemetry received. Unless of course the block diagrams are not accessible, but then that would be another issue.

Ok great. As theres a library with the two main vis i would guess that theres sub vis within the two main ones, and its probably going to be the sub vis that do the nitty-gritty stuff i want to get at (comms with the serial card). Not sure how many in the lib but i think theres a few, guess it may take somebody a while to convert, but it would be much appreciated.
