Hi Andy,

The activation server was down yesterday so it might have given you an error because of that. Try again today and let us know if it still doesn't work out. Also, here is another way to activate:

Hi Adnan,

Thanks for the reply and advice.

I have just tried the internet activation again it it still fails in the same way.

Our IT people say nothing has changed here with respect to this (but who knows what they get up to!).

There are other methods of registering I know, but this method has always worked form me. We have several developer suites here to register with many products so the internet is easy. Others here are having the same problem

Internet registration has only stopped working on NI/LV8.6 etc going to DVD, so thought some feed back may be needed.

Any other thoughts - have people had this working?

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

Have you tried activating atleast one of the licenses with the other activation systems?

If that doesn't work, I would wonder if the system has rolled over your Dev Suite to version 8.6.

In any case, I would recommend that you contact customer services at 01635-523545 if you are based in the UK. If you are based in any other country, let me know and I could provide you with a number for that location.

Hi Andy,

I just wanted to follow up and see if you were able to activate the product successfully. If you were able to do so, can you please let us know how you resolved the issue, so the entire community benefits? Have a great weekend!

Hi Adnan,

No not resolved. I had to resort to the second level of activation.

You didn't let me know if others have been sucsessful in top level registration from the new DVD set?

Hi Andy,

I haven't heard of any problems with DevSuite DVD activation. I would recommend that you contact your local NI branch and let them know of the issue (since it not working for a lot of people in your company is a serious issue). If you are based in the UK, you can call us at 01635-523545 and refer to service request 700644.

I just had this same problem as well.  I just bought a new PC with Vista Home Premium.  I installed LabVIEW w/DSC and Real-Time from my Dec 08 Developer's suite update.  The Internet Activation method failed.  I was able to use the alternative method of using the web page and copying the generated activation codes from the web page to the License Manager.

Is this a problem caused by Vista?  I did not have any popups asking for permission to go through the firewall to get the codes.  I never had an issue with my previous home PC which was XP, nor my work development PC and PXI box which are also XP.  Worst case, XP might pop up a dialog box asking if you want to allow access through the firewall and allow National Instruments software to be on the approved list.

This has been my first experience with Vista.  Not too bad so far.  It looks a bit different.  Some things are prettier, some things uglier.  They've buried some of the advanced user features that I knew how to find in XP.  (Why is My computer icon missing on the desktop by default?)  But Google is my friend to figure out how to get things set up right.

Hi,

I don't have tested last updated DVD, but when I got problem, I was using Windows XP (Don't sure about SP2/SP3).

Best Regards.
