LabVIEW 8 long load times

Dear wire workers

I have a PC with a 2GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and XP without
network and without any kind of NI interface cards.
Why does it takes 30s to start LV8 while it takes about 5s
to start LV 7.1.1?

With kind regards

It takes me less than 3 seconds to get to the LabVIEW 8.0 "getting started" menu. (1.6GHz Pentium M laptop)

Could it be you are timing the opening of a project last saved under LabVIEW 7.1? In this case the conversion can take a while. Once you save it all under LabVIEW 8.0, it should again open fast. 😄

(Keep a copy of the 7.1 originals elsewhere, just in case).

Mine takes 30-60 seconds as well. Depends if it's been started before or not. But the first start of the day is usually at least 60 seconds. And that's just starting LabVIEW, not opening any project or VIs.

This is a P4 M 2.0GHz 512Mb RAM.

I noticed this increase in load time as well.

The first time I open LV8 an any particulat day it will take about 50 seconds to get to the splash screen.

Repeated attempts to open LV8 only take about 9 seconds.

I have tested this over a number of days.

Hmm...

Loading LabVIEW 8.0 after a fresh reboot still takes me only 14seconds...

(probably depends on DAQ hardware and extra toolkits, etc...)
