LabVIEW RunTime not working

Hello! I have a little problem with LabVIEW run time that I need to check out a control panel of our hydrogen fuel cell. I have two laptops: 1. Dell Inspiron 6400 with Windows Vista installed and the LabVIEW Run Time works normally with Internet Explorer. It even downloaded and installed on it's own. So this computer works fine. 2. The other computer is HP Compaq NC6120 with Windows XP SP2 installed and with Internet Explorer 7.0. The LabVIEW Run Time doesn't work. It is installed as an ActiveX add-on but it just doesn't work properly. There's a panel that should be downloaded when I connect to the cell's control system but it just stays at 0%. I hope you all know what kind of problem I have because it is really anoying me right now. Thanks for all your help!

Swoosh,

there are quite some possible reasons:
a) The RTE on the Compaq is not installed for all users and the current user must not install such software.
b) The IExplorer on the Compaq has ActiveX controls disabled in its Internet Options
c) There is content which is blocked by the Firewall which is required for the Webapplication

These are the ones coming into my mind immediatly, but i am sure there can be more.....

hope this helps,
Norbert B.

Where can I check if the RTE is installed for all users. There's only one user on the Compaq and that's Computer administrator. I've also checked the ActiveX controls if they are disabled and they are not. In Tools/Manage Add-ons there is everything enabled. And the last one ... the firewall is turned off so I guess that can't be a problem. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!

If there's only one user and he is the admin on the PC and has installed the RTE, then he has to have the rights to use it....

And regarding IExplorer:
I was not talking about any Add-Ons, but about the security settings. You can find them in IExplorer under Tools>>Internet Options and then select the tab "Security". Check the default Config by "Custom Level" and then scroll down to the section"ActiveX controls and plug-ins". There you got to have the correct settings.

hope this helps,
Norbert

I have installed the RTE as an admin so he must have rights to use it. Is there an option where I can check that just to be sure?

I also check the security options for ActiveX controls and I've set everything to Enable but it still doesn't work. 😞

This is really getting on my last nerve.

Thanks again for helping!

Swoosh,

maybe we are looking in the wrong direction. This link includes many valuable information regarding publishing LV applications using Remote Panels.
But there is one issue i forgot to ask about:
You got to have "Remote Panel" Licenses in order to see/control an LV application using Remote Panel (which means among other things: WebPublished).
- LV Base does NOT contain any Remote Panel Licenses
- LV Full includes exactly ONE Remote Panel License, so if one PC connects to the Panel, none other can at the same time
- LV Professional includes FIVE Remote Panel Licenses
You do not have to activate those licenses seperatly.

Another question is: Do you suppress popups in your webbrowser? Maybe, there should popup an error dialog showing some errorinformation on why the download seems not to work, but is suppressed by the browser....

hope this helps,
Norbert
