LabView License

Hi All,

I have questions about licensing.

If I buy license I would like to try it first on development temporary PC, as currently have 2014 version and need it for upgrading existing system.

Can't play on production machine of course.

Can I deactivate from that machine later and activate license on target machine?

Is there any limitation on switching from one computer to another?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I think this should be totally fine. I have done something similar in the past and had no issue.

Worst case scenario, if you are not able to switch PCs-license, you should have 1 year support from NI and they will help you with the license switch. But again, I do not think this will be needed.

Depends on whether the license is bound to the PC or the user.

If it is bound to PC, this page should help, right?

People get new computers all the time.

Worst case is you have to jump through a couple hoops like deactivate LabVIEW your current computer and reactivate LabVIEW on the new computer.

Also you get like 90 days in demo mode before NI forces you to activate. So you can install it and try everything out on the old system without activating it.

Thanks all for support.

To avoid playing with license and make easier to develop and maintain scripts and system, I decided to have dedicated laptop. Lucky, it can be connected to testing hardware without special interfaces.

Production machines have TestStand base deployment engine licenses.
