This link was also useful to force the unwanted Excel process to close.  The example would need to be modified from string "OUTLOOK" to "EXCEL".  I have contacted NI and an action to correct this matter has been raised.

I have the same problem. I am not able to quit excel using Active X. Am using LV 2011 version and Excel 2007
