Limits of PDA acquisition

tst,
more seriously, since you are (were ?) a PDA afficionado, do you know if there is a possibility to use their USB port to dialog with NI acquisition modules ?

While I use the PDA module, I haven't had a chance to interface with any hardware directly, only through WiFi, so I can't answer your question.

I don't remember hearing of a PDA with USB (I consider PDA to be devices which run WinCE or PalmOS), but I have seen that often the easiest thing is to do your stuff on the computer and connect to it from a PDA program. Is this relevant in your case?

Maybe with LV8 NI will introduce some more serious cards?

I believed that the connection between PDA and PC was using USB ?..

Yes, but the port on the PDA (as far as I know) is a serial port only (which would probably mean the base includes a USB<->RS232 convertor).

Actually, there are a few PocketPC's I know of that sport a USH HOST.  On a hardware level, such a device does support USB DAQ devices, which clearly points out the problem: You still need a driver for the device. A driver that is compiled for PocketPC..Good luck finding USB devices that have a pocketPC driver available. The reason is that USB Hosts are extremely rare on PDA's at this time. Hopefully this will change soon. One PocketPC I believe has a host is the ASUS 730W.

BTW. A previous message mentions the flipstart handtop. This thing never made it to market unfortunately. I believe the demise of transmeta was to blame.
