I recently had to replace the controller card on my PXI chassis, as the old one would not boot. I'm now getting an error trying to import the configuration settings that I had exported and saved with old controller. The error message reads:
NI-DAQmx 8.6: -50204
NI Platform Services: The specified filed could not be opened. The operation could not be completed as specified.
The chassis and installed cards are all the same, except for the new controller. The model of the new controller is PXI-8108, with Windows 7 operating system. The old one was PXI-8106, with Windows XP. The new one has MAX version 4.7 (as delivered), whereas the old one was version 4.3. LabVIEW and drivers are the same.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this? My first thought is to try uninstalling software and reinstalling with the older version of MAX, but I really don't know if that is the problem.
Thanks,
Mike

Update: I unistalled and reinstalled all NI software, with MAX 4.3, but still get the error. Is NI-DAQmx 8.6 compatible with the PXI-8108 controller card? Do I need to update it?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Daqmx 8.6 is not compatible with Windows 7. Try and install the latest version of Daqmx and see if that helps.

Thanks for responding, Carl. I've currently updated to DAQmx 9.5.5. Also updated MAX to 5.3.1, System Configuration 5.3, and PXI Platform Services 3.0.4. Looking now, I'm realizing that the root problem seems to be that I can't see the 6255 card in the chassis. Both of the RIO cards that are installed are showing up just fine. I've tried this controller in a second chassis with the same cards, but with the same result.

The 6255 should work under the Damx 9.5.5 with no problem. Try putting the card in a different slot and see if that helps. Also you can look in device manager and see if the card is showing up but the driver is not recognizing it.
You also may try clearing the database in MAX. Since you were importing an old one that may have caused a problem. Below is a link on how to clean the database to see if the card will show up then you can put your scales and things back in after that.
