Missing Codecs in AVI Compressor Comparison Example

I've run into this same problem and the lack of compression is costing me a lot of hard drive space. This needs to be moved up to a higher priority for your engineers!

I agree. Hard to believe they couldn't squeeze a fix into SP1. Especially when the error is so obvious and easy to reproduce.

Hi JLHaworth,

I checked the status of the CAR and it looks like R&D is still actively pursuing it. Unfortunately, I cannot say definitively when it will be incorporated. I am sorry that this issue still persists but know that R&D are working on a solution.

Well, we know that LV2012 is coming real soon. If its not fixed in that rev, then NI will have let a Service Pack and a major release pass by with this bug as a known issue. Don't suppose there is any way we can escalate this issue? Eg find someone important and complain real hard to them.

I have forwarded your comments on to R&D and let them know you all are urgently awaiting a fix. Once again, I am sorry that this issue still persists.

Hi Chaps,

I've just been struggling to get a 64-bit CODEC to run in LabView 64-bit on Windows 7 (64-bit). Glad I found this thread as it seems to be an inherrent LV problem. If the chaps working on this need another CODEC to test you can try the one I'm using - http://download.accusoft.com/picvideo/PICVIDEO.EXE.

This installs both a 32-bit and 64-bit CODEC. I've been using the 32-bit version of this CODEC with LV 32-bit for many years with no issues, and wanted to upgrade our software to LV 64-bit. Unfortunately the 64-bit version of LV cannot detect this CODEC (I know it's installed and registered but somehow LV won't find it).

I agree with all the other posts here that this is a high priority bug that should be fixed as a priority. Not being able to use CODEC compression with LV 64-bit makes it essentially useless.

Please can you push for this to be sorted ASAP. This is pretty poor as it appears this issue has been raised over a year ago in this thread - I would have expected better from NI to be honest. Smiley Wink

Cheers,

Steven

Hi Steven.

I am at NIweek now. I have a face-to-face meeting with NI Vision engineers soon, where I plan to discuss this issue alone.

Not sure if it's fixed in LV 2012 , but I will find out soon.

I spoke to a Vision R&D engineer about this issue. He was unaware of it. But said he'd look into it for me. Also, it does NOT look like this bug has been fixed in the 2012 release. I haven't installed it. But it is not mentioned in the readme or the known issues list. So we are SOL.
