Motor inertia of dc servo motor

Hi,

I working on to calculate the total inertia of the motor with a pulley set. How to find the motor inertia from the specification data given with the motor?  How about armature inertia ? Is it very important to the inertia of the whole system ?

Thanks

Shawn

Hi Shawn Chew,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. I think this post would be better suited to a mechanics forum rather than this LabVIEW forum. LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment and language and this discussion forum is devoted to solving problems of that nature.

I have however, found a couple of external links which I think maybe of more use to you in answering your question.

This is a forum for Engineers but specifically relates to Electric machines. I would try posting your question again there to see if anyone could help. Alternatively, try this link for another mechanical engineering forum.

I've also included this link which relates to a paper about calculating moments of inertia of a variety of different AC/DC machines.

I hope this helps,

Many thanks,
