My computers are not in Network items of the shared variable

I am working with a laptop VAIO XP and a laptop HP Vista, I created a network and I can see both computers in both machines, I open the example Shared Variable Client-Server.lvproj in both computers and when I try to change the path of the shared variables I click browse and I dont see both computers on the VAIO only in the HP, I already desactivate both firewalls, and went to tools-shared variable-register computer and fix the IP, I tried all that but the same error keeps showing:

"Error 1950679022 ocurred at shared variable read in clients.lvlib: Data Item Binding Client.vi

Possible reasons:

labview:(Hex0x8BBB012) The process was not found or is not responding.

This warning ocurred while reading (\\.\client\bound waveform) "

I changed the path manualy on the bound variables typing the name of my computer and then the IP but it does not work either.

\\HP1\server\waveform

\\192.168.0.3\server\waveform

Is the "National Instruments Variable Engine" service running on all machines?

What version of LV are you using?

Is this the URL to your shared variable? Or are those two different URLs?

If this is a single URL to the shared variable you want to bind to, this is an invalid one.....

hope this helps,

Maybe your user rights on the Vaio laptop are not sufficient?

Right-click "My Computer", Left-click on "Manage."  On the left hand side of the window that comes up, click on "Services."

Lanazuly

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am having a similar issue at the moment, in that I cannot browse for variables on the Network. It only shows <No items>.

Thanks

Have you tried under Tools >> Shared Variable the Register Computer option on the PC where you are trying to look for the other PCs.  If you try to register those other PCs, I think they'd start showing up for you.

The OPC server I'm hosting is on the same PC. When I open up the Distributed System Manager, I cannot see the OPC server on either the network or the localhost.
