Hi I have this error as well on a windows & machine Can you explain step 2 to me in a bit more detail

Press START->RUN and type: services.msc and press OK button. Then search for NI Application Web Server and NI System Web Server services, right click and select "Stop" (in the specified order).

What I meant is the other step 2.
Backup then delete all files under %PROGRAMDATA%\National Instruments\NIAuth: registry.bin and commitmark.

Search for registry.bin and commitmark files in your ProgramData folder, copy the files in another location and then delete them. ProgramData folder might be hidden so make sure "show hidden files" is checked in folder option. Depending on your OS, ProgramData folder might be found on different paths: you can use "Get System Directory.vi" found in LabVIEW palette: Programming->File I/O->File Constants, to get program data path (Select "Public Application Data" for "System Directory Type" ring). I hope now it's clear for you!

My FPGA compile worker is also giving the same error message--"Multiple server log on attempts have been unsuccessful." This came after allowing Windows 7 to update (big mistake). I tried following the solution given previously and it worked...sort of. There were two problems:
Problem 1: I couldn't shut down the NI System Web Server service. It would shut down all its dependent services but would time out when shutting down itself. It then gets stuck in a "stopping..." state where it won't let me do anything, so I restarted the PC and tried again. This time I manually stopped all dependent services and then the NI System Web Server service stopped this time. I was then able to move those two NIAuth files, restarted the services, and everything was fine until...
Problem 2: (By the way, I had this problem on two separate PCs.) After getting the compile worker communicating on the first PC I gave it an extra reboot just for good measure and proceeded to fix the second PC. Second PC fixed, I returned to the first to find the error message back. Apparently a reset brought back whatever problem I had. So I got suspicious and returned to PC 2. I am 95% sure I didn't reboot this one but just left it running, but it too had the error message again. So it appears that removing the NIAuth files is a very temporary solution.
I already have the Windows firewall disabled, so that shouldn't be the problem. Like I said at the beginning, the only thing that changed between it working and not working was a Windows 7 update. Any ideas?
I am using LV2012 no SP.
Thanks!

After a computer reset can you verify that all three of these services are started and running:
NI mDNS Responder Service
NI System Web Server
NI Application Web Server
Also have you tried navigating to http://localhost:3580 and looked for an error?

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the reply! I made very sure that those services were running, and when the FPGA compile server and worker have no connectivity then I can't access http://localhost:3580. IE says that it can't display the webpage.
However, this time I noticed something strange: when I reboot the computer the FPGA compile server and worker have connectivity for about two minutes, then nothing after that unless I shut down those services, clear the NIAuth data, and restart the services. That is also temporary however, as noted in my previous post.

Would you be willing to attach a zipped copy of your MAX Technical Support Report for us to look at? The one posted by the original poster was instrumental in finding the solution that worked in that case.

Here is the technical support report (or at least what I think you were asking for), printed out for My System. Don't ask for the report of anything else, if I click the drop-down box to browse and select other options then MAX freezes. Let me know if I can do anything else to help.
Thanks!
