Network published variables issue between 2009 - 2011 labview

Solved!
Go to solution

... I have tested from a client computer to the server computer with a simple Boolean shared variable with the DSC security, and it worked perfectly, and was read by both XP and win7 computers. So it is not a firewall issue, it has to be the VI.. But why it is causing this issue is unknown.

Please try to read the variables using the Distributed System Manager from each type of computer. Let me know what you find.

IAK_SHARED: (Hex 0x8ABC5003) the connection to the server was lost.

This is the error I get when I attempt to view the variables on a win7 client computer through Distributed system manager

Connection lost is likely due to firewall settings. Please check that the shared variable ports are not blocked with your IT department.

Why would a test program on the exact same machines work then?

So you have the same program written in two different versions of LabVIEW running on the same computer? Are they running at the same time? Please ensure the correct ports are not being blocked. Here is the best resource we have for shared vars and their ports-http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/8AE45BBFA1D7025E862570F200642FD8?OpenDocument

Yes they are. I have solve the problem temporarily by removing all permissions in the DSC. Im going to make a new thread, as I have narrowed down the issue and this one contains too much unnecessary information, which most of it has been solved.
