You could hold your breath along with me, but I don't think it will happen.  Darren gave a pretty good explanation.  Too much work for NI R&D for not enough benefit.  Just remember !=0.

Why don't you just write a little VI with a similar icon and !=0 inside? It would not be in the functions palette, but you could put it with your own collection of handy little VIs (User Libraries?). The inconvenient thing is that none of the available connector patterns is ideal for this.

I did something similar to the =0 so that DBL that had small round off error could be determined to be approximately =0.

In several text based languages != is Not equal, in some it's /= or <>. The last is probably the most correct syntactically, but the other try to emulate ≠
