OS X breaks Labview

The newest version of OS X breaks Labview.

The ".vi" extension has already been used ?

What versions of OS X and LV are you using?  What happens to cause you to think that "OS X breaks Labview"?

I am running OS X 10.5.6 on a Quad core Mac Pro with LV 8.5 and 8.6 and have not seen any problems.

Also, searching fileinfo.com for the vi extension only returns LabVIEW as the associated application on Mac, Windows and Linux.

I upgraded a Intel MacBook to 10.5.6  after several LV files lost their LV icons

and  reverted to RTF.  A Apple store tech disabled QuickLook via a shell script

at the problem abated. Unix has a text editor called "Vi" that may write files that

are being confused with Labview files.

I do not see that effect with Quick Look.  It just shows LV icons.  I have vim  which is Vi IMproved, but a quick scan of the vi man page does not give any hint that the .vi file extension is associated with that program.

I will be away from my office the rest of the day.  I should have some time tomorrow.

Look at our web site for the last 5 digits of the number: http://www.instrumentationlab.muohio.edu/   The staff link will take you to the right part of the page.

The area code is 513 and the exchange is 529.  Note that the "9" is part of thenumber listed on the web page.
