Office 2007 Ribbon Bar and Icons in LabVIEW

Hi all,

I've seen that with Visual Studio you can create applications which use the very nice Office 2007 Ribbon (menu) bar.  Microsoft has also made available the Office 2007 icons via an Excel spreadsheet.

I would very much like to use a ribbon bar and these icons in a LabVIEW application.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Aussie Battler.

That's interesting.

This is the first time I've heard anyone say something postive about the Office 2007 Ribbons.

To poster:  In what way are you trying to use them? Are these embedded .ico files or just pictures? If they're just pictures you can use them by simply customizing buttons. The LabVIEW Help describes how to customize controls. By the way, where is this spreadsheet?

Still don't know if you can use the Office 2007 ribbon and/or icons yet.

The spreadsheet provided by Microsoft can be found here:

Apparently once you have this spreadsheet and can view the icons then you can include them (by programming) into your Visual Studio programs.

Obviously I'd like to be able to do this with LabVIEW.  I think being able to do this will become very popular to give applications a professional look.  For instance PowerWorld Simulator now uses the Office 2007 menu ribbon and from what I've seen people like it.

There's got to be a way of usng these features in LabVIEW.

I assume MS provides the functionality in Visual Studio via a .Net interface. You should be able to use the same .Net interface with LabVIEW.

Edit:

I found an ActiveX toolset that contain ribbons.

Has anyone programmed the Microsoft Office Ribbon menu with LabVIEW?

They say something about XML code and they're talking ActiveX not .NET... I think.

Any ideas?  Has anyone looked at the links I've provided?

ActiveX is doable as well in LabVIEW (just like .Net), but unfortunatly I can't open the video (either in Firefox or Internet Explorer) So I have no idea what language they used.

No answer to this either.  I wonder why I even bother.

Seriously Battler you really need to calm down. It is OK to sometimes have a bad period. We all do have such periods from time to time. But do not use this forum as a pressure relief valve.
