Older driver support in recent versions of Labview

Good morning all,

I've been given the task of capturing data from an avalanche photodetector with our Tektronix TDS 430A oscilloscope, and use labview to acquire/analyze/display the data. The trouble is that I've been told by the last student that the driver for our venerable oscilloscope only works with labview 5.1. I find it a little strange that more recent versions of labview would not be compatible with drivers for older versions - should I waste my time trying to get it to work in labview 8.2 or 8.5? Does anybody have experience with this sort of thing?

Thanks very much,

Ryan

The only problem may be that LabVIEW 8.5 cannot load any VIs written with versions older than 6.0.  If you have access to a newer version other than 8.5, then you should be able to open it and save it in that version. Once it's saved, then 8.5 should be able to open it. If you have no intermediate versions, post the driver and ask for help in converting it.

Looks like the machine I'll be using has LabvVIEW 8.2 ... So I'm in luck then? I was also just reading about SignalExpress... I suppose that if I can't get it working with LabVIEW 8.2 for whatever reason then I can either ask for help converting it on these forums or use SignalExpress?

Thanks for your quick response!
