PCI-8232 Not recognized in Intel Motherboard DH67CL

Aldo,

Yes we have been using the Evaluate System Tool on a USB disk.  I ran it again....

1) Using MAX to create the USB boot disk.  Screen shot attached.  What you can not see is that it cycles through all of the drivers at the end.  One thing I noticed in MAX was that there is no "RT Utilities" menu item per the directions in the KB.  I am just using the "Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive".   I am using Max 5.0.0f1.

2) I Downloaded the zip file from the KB and used it to create the disk.  Same result.

When I have the card in slot 2, the bios sees it as shown in the attached screen shots.  If I have it in slot 3 or 4, the computer can not boot and gives the No video POST beeps (odd as it has an onboard video driver).

This is a fairly run of the mill Intel motherboard and processor, so I am surprised that there is an incompatability.

Thank you for the screenshots bradth,

The next step would be to try isolating the problem to either software or hardware. I would like for you to use an Ubuntu bootable USB stick (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download) and check to see if your PCI card enumerates with that OS. Don’t install the OS on your hard drive, instead, follow the instructions to “Try” Ubuntu. If the OS doesn't enumerate your PCI card, then there will be a high chance that there is something wrong with the hardware. If it does enumerate your PCI card, then we will look at the USB disk utility software more closely. Let me know the results from this test. I appreciate your patience and I look forward to your response. Thanks!

I can not see it as a network card in Ubuntu (in the wired eth0 gui).  I can see the onboard ethernet card though.

Output from running lspci is attached.  I also note that when I plug a cable into the card and connect to a router, both lights on the card stay solid and never blink.

Regards,

Brad

Thanks for the update Brad,

Next, if you have an extra PCI Ethernet card, can you test out the rest of the PCI slots? If the other PCI ethernet cards are not recognized, then the motherboard might be damaged. If they are recognized, then the PCI 8232 might be damaged. Let me know of your results using the same Ubuntu USB disk utility. Thanks!

Also,

Thanks for your help.  I wanted to give you an update.  Oddly I was able to get it to work by enabling the onboard ethernet in the bios and removing the pci-8232 card.  I have nopt gone back and tried the pci-8232 card.  I have a second pci-8232 card here for another system we are building up but have been hesitant to open it until we found a solution to keep moving forward.  When I can work it in, I will try it too.
