Problem adding new fpga to LVRT vi

I'm using LVRT8.2.1 and NI_RIO 2.4.1.

I have a LVRT project that uses 9 fpga's in a 14 slot PXI chassis. We need to add more fpga's, so I moved the 9 fpga's and the RT controller to an 18 slot chassis, and added more fpga's. The old and new fpga's show up in MAX.

With the original RT vi, the application shows no errors and I get correct data from the original 9 fpga's. The  FPGA VI Reference reference outputs are combined.

If I add one of the new fpga's I get a broken wire with an incompatable clusters error. This is true if I copy an existing  FPGA VI Reference or add a new one. The fpga bitfile are the same on all the fpga's. If I set the new fpga to the same address as one of the old fpga's the broken wire goes away. But as soon as I change the fpga address to one of the new fpga's I get the broken wire.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Chuck

chuckgantz,

A few questions for you:

1.) Can you post an image of the error message you are getting?

2.) Are you new FPGA's the exact same Model as your old FPGA's?

3.) When you say, "fpga address", do you mean RIO1, RIO2, etc.?

4.) Did you use the RIO device setup to place the bitfiles on the new FPGAs?

Hi Ben,

It dawned on me what the problem was this morning.

The fpga's vi, which is the same for all the fpga's, had been recompiled. Apparently the original Open FPGA VI Reference remembered the original vi bitfile and produced an fpga reference that wasn't compatable with the new fpga references. The error was about incompatable clusters, even though I couldn't see what the difference was. When I went to original vi's Open FPGA VI Reference, clicked on Select Adress..., and reselected the fpga (RIO1, RIO2, etc), the old and new references were then compatable.

Thanks for your help.

Chuck,

Glad you were able to figure it out! You should mark your second post as the "solution."

I'll do that, but how do you mark a post as solved?

Chuck,

I'm actually not sure as only the creator of the thread can do that. I assume that there is a button for it in the top right corner or under the options drop down for the post.
